Questions about the four compounds

The distinctions that matter when familiar names and biological origins get compressed into a sales claim.

Is NAD+ a peptide?

NAD+ is a coenzyme, chemically a dinucleotide. It appears alongside peptides in wellness discussions, but its production and salvage pathways belong to a different chemistry. The NAD+ metabolism review describes both its electron-carrying role and the enzymes that consume it. I think the recycling is more interesting than the category it has acquired in marketing.

What do NAD+ supplement trials show?

Oral precursor trials show reliable blood NAD+ increases. The NR trial in healthy overweight adults demonstrates that clearly. Specific NMN trials also report improved muscle insulin sensitivity or walking-distance and quality-of-life changes. The 2025 human ageing review still judges overall efficacy limited and tissue-level data sparse. Longevity and disease-prevention claims remain unproven in humans.

What does KPV peptide do?

In intestinal cell culture and mouse colitis experiments, KPV reduced inflammatory signalling and cytokine secretion and reduced mouse colitis severity. It also showed activity in mice lacking MC1R. Those findings explain the research interest. Published human clinical trials, validated human pharmacokinetics and clinical safety data remain absent.

Are KPV and PT-141 interchangeable?

They share a relationship to alpha-MSH, with very different chemistry and evidence. KPV corresponds to the final three amino acids; PT-141 is a synthetic cyclic analogue. The tripeptide review discusses KPV's preclinical anti-inflammatory effects, while RECONNECT studied bremelanotide in premenopausal women with HSDD. A claim resting only on their shared parent leaves me unconvinced.

What is PT-141 approved for?

An FDA-approved bremelanotide injection formulation is indicated for acquired, generalised HSDD in premenopausal women. The prescribing information excludes men, postmenopausal women and sexual-performance enhancement, and contains important blood-pressure and pigmentation warnings. Compounded preparations are not FDA-approved. Research-labelled material sits outside the approved formulation.

How do GHK and GHK-Cu differ?

GHK names the glycine–histidine–lysine peptide; GHK-Cu names its copper complex. Copper binding is material to many reported tissue-remodelling effects. The GHK skin-regeneration review and topical delivery review discuss the compound's biology and formulation. The form used in an experiment belongs in any account of its result.

Does copper peptide serum have human evidence?

Small topical studies provide some human evidence. The reviewed collagen comparison reports the proportion of subjects showing increased synthesis, and the controlled hair study tested a combination of GHK and 5-aminolevulinic acid. Skin delivery remains a substantial challenge. Neither source establishes human benefit from injectable GHK-Cu. Anecdotal skincare accounts add impressions, with no controlled way to attribute them.

Does an endogenous origin establish safety?

Origin identifies a molecule's relationship to biology. Safety requires evidence for the actual form, route and circumstances of exposure. The bremelanotide label documents adverse effects despite the compound's relationship to a human hormone. My attraction to reused biological pieces comes with that practical reservation: their history cannot decide a personal treatment question.
